2017 AWP Award Series

Who may enter
The competition is open to all authors writing in English regardless of nationality or residence, and it is open to published and unpublished authors alike.
The Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) sponsors the Award Series, an annual competition for the publication of excellent new book-length works. The Award Series defines "book-lenght" as:
— Poetry: 48 pages minimum text;
— Short story or creative nonfiction collection: 150-300 manuscript pages;
— Novel: at least 60,000 words.
There are four Prizes:
• The Donald Hall Prize for Poetry (Judge: Kim Addonizio);
• The Grace Paley Prize for Short Fiction (Judge: Sue Miller);
• The AWP Prize for Creative Nonfiction (Judge: Gretel Ehrlich);
• The AWP Prize for the Novel (Judge: Zachary Lazar).
Poems and stories previously published in periodicals are eligible for inclusion in submissions, but manuscripts previously published in their entirety, including self-published manuscripts, are not eligible.
$30 for nonmembers and $20 for AWP members
The Donald Hall Prize for Poetry offers an award of $5,500, supported by Amazon.com, and publication by the University of Pittsburgh Press.
The Grace Paley Prize for Short Fiction offers an award of $5,500, supported by Amazon.com, and publication by the University of Massachusetts Press.
The AWP Prize for Creative Nonfiction offers an award of $2,500 and publication by the University of Georgia Press.
The AWP Prize for the Novel offers an award of $2,500 and publication by New Issues.
