The competition is open to anyone.

Description
The Competition is organized by Bournemouth University Higher Education Corporation through The Faculty of Media and Communication.

The New Media Writing Prize is open for entries from writers working with digital media.

There are four awards:
a. Unicorn Student Award
b. if:book UK New Media Writing Prize

We are looking for good storytelling (fiction or non-fiction) written specifically for delivery and reading/viewing on a PC or Mac, the web, or a hand-held device such as an iPad or mobile phone. It could be a short story, novel, poem, documentary or transmedia work using words, images, film or animation with audience interaction. Interactivity is a key element of new-media storytelling.

c. The Gorkana Journalism Award

The Gorkana Journalism Awards honour innovative stories based on factual material and featuring digital media. Interactive documentaries, multimedia features and serious games are all considered. Entries must incorporate new media technologies and platforms. 

d. The Dot Award 

For the Dot Award we are looking for projects which aren’t necessarily technically complex but do create original and exciting literary work inspired by the affordances of the web, blogs, apps, social media etc.

All entries in all categories must be in English.

Entry fees
The competition is free to enter.

Prizes
a.
Unicorn Student Award: a paid work-placement of 3 months at Unicorn Training, Bournemouth, UK, or £500 in cash if the winner is unable to take up the internship.

b. if:book UK New Media Writing Prize: £1.000 donated by if:book UK, where the winner may also be a student

c. The Journalism Award: £750 for the winner

d. The Dot Award: £500 and development support, offered by if:book UK
