Who may enter
The award is open to poets around the world who have had no more than one solo collection of their work commercially published: that is, by a publishing house with commercial distribution.

The competition is organised by Overland, an Australian literary and cultural magazine.

Established in 2007 and supported by the Malcolm Robertson Foundation, the Overland Judith Wright Poetry Prize for New and Emerging Poets seeks outstanding poetry by writers who have published no more than one collection of poems under their own name. It remains one of the richest prizes for emerging poets, and is open to poets anywhere in the world.

Entrants may submit poems up to 80 lines.

Poems must be unpublished (including online). Poems that have won in other competitions are not eligible.

Entry fee
$12 AUD for subscribers and $20 AUD for non-subscribers.

• 1st prize: $6,000 AUD
• 2nd prize: $2,000 AUD
• 3rd Prize: $1,000 AUD

All three finalists will be published in Overland 242, autumn 2021.
